2nd emed Convention 2009 was the continuation of a positive, healthy tradition of the health platform giving an opportunity to all the doctors, students, nurses, paramedics & public members to get together & highlight the achievements of the previous year and planning for the future. Further the occasion is celebrated as a farewell to the emed student members of final year Punjab Medical College Faisalabad.
This year convention carried all the colors & was very nicely hosted by the 4th year student members who had put all their efforts to make it a success. The function was organized in the auditorium of Punjab Medical College Faisalabad, Pakistan & Principal of the college Prof Riaz Hussain Dub graced the occasion as the chief guest.
All the office bearers including Prof Ahmad Bilal, Dr Khurram Sohail Raja, Dr Zahid Masood Khan, Dr Humaira Arshad & Mr Tariq Mushtaq got the privilege of starting the function at 8:00 p.m with the HEAL artists presenting tablos on the history, achievements & future plans of emed.
It was followed by special skits on the internally displaced people (IDPs) of the on going Sawat war which was highly appreciated by the audience. Prof Ahmad Bilal announced of contributing all the funds generated in the convention to help the Sawat victims in Mardan district.
General Secretary emed, Dr Khurram Raja while conducting the prize distribution ceremony welcomed all the factions of emed including emed doctors, emed members from Punajb Medical College, nurses, paramedics, traffic wardens, students from University Medical College & public & honorable guests including Ex Principal of Punjab Medical College & Ex Head of Ophthalmology Department Prof Zia ud Din, Principal College of Paramedics Dr Zaeem Tipu, Director Faisalabad Arts Council Chaudhry Asif, members of Unique Lions Club, Dr Tufail Mohammad, Dr Khalid Mehmood, Dr Yaseen Chaudhry, Dr Zafar Ullah Saleemi, Dr Qaiser Mahmood, Dr Bashir Ahmad, Dr Javed Iqbal & all the staff members of the administration & various departments of the college specially from Forensic Medicine department.
All the final year emed members were given a very warm farewell by the juniors & colleagues & they were awarded by certificates, shields & trophies by the Chief Guest Prof Riaz Hussain Dub & honorable members of Unique Lions Club.
Certificates of Honor were awarded to all emed members including Hina Sultan, Maida Mehwish, Fiza Asif, Akash Ashraf, Saira Fayyaz, Tayyaba Hassan, Mehreen Maqbool, Syeda Ayesha Hashmi, Waleed Haider, Usman Arshad, Bilal Anwar, Qaiser Zia, Jahanzeb Iftikhar, Rana Saleem & Shadab Masood.
Shields were awarded to the Heal & E-Savers Coordinators including Waleed Haider (Heal), Usman Arshad (Heal), Saira Fayyaz (Heal), Akash Ashraf (Heal), Bilal Anwar (E-Savers) & Tayyaba Hassan (E-Savers).
Trophies were awarded to the two Class Coordinators, Hina Sultan & Waleed Haider who without any doubt put their best efforts in 5 years for the progress of emed. Students & teachers appreciated them a lot.
Shields of excellence were awarded to Zain Mehdi (4th year PMC on getting distinction in Pharmacology). Ehtasham ud Din (Express TV channel), Naseer Cheema (Daily Express Newspaper), Haeema Sadia (Lady Traffic Warden), Kausar Talib (Allied School of Nursing), Dr Mohammad Irfan (1st emed student member in 2003), Dr Afzal Alvi (Rescue 1122) and cash prizes to College of Paramedics in skit & poem competition in Diabetes Marathon 2008.
In his address Prof Riaz Hussain encouraged & supported the healthy & positive activities of emed & specially appreciated the good name emed is bringing to the institution.
Before dinner participants gathered to walk against the killing effects of ‘Hypertension’ to mark the World Hypertension Day. After walk a grand dinner was served to almost 700 participants which was a mammoth dinner in the recent PMC history of student get together.
