Awareness lecture on 'Hospital Waste Management'

On the request of Medical Superintendent DHQ Hospital Faisalabad, Pakistan, emed organized an awareness & informative lecture under its series of emed Safe Disposal program on Tuesday, 20.1.2009.

 

Director Medical Education Department of Punjab Medical College & District Surgeon Jhang, Dr Mussarat ul Hasnain was the guest speaker who terms safe disposal management as his passion.

 

Te administrative team of DHQ hospital & nursing staff were the audience & the lecture was arranged in the DHQ nursing school.

 

General Secretary emed, Dr Khurram Sohail Raja introduced emed to the audience stressing on working for our country & its people.

 

It was very interesting & revealing for the audience when Dr Mussarat told them that 42% of the new cases of Hepatitis C & 62% of the new cases of Hepatitis B is due to the use of used syringes.

 

They were shocked to know that 42 years are required to eliminate 1mg of Dioxins from the human body which come out of burning hospital stuff in the incinerators.

 

Audience showed great interest in the cheap methods of disposal of hospital waste proposed by Dr Mussarat.

 

Present on the occasion. Dr Qaiser Abbas Shah promised the audience to pass on the emed recommendations to the MS & other concerned authorities.
