Dr Khizer T Ashraf has been awarded AusAid scholarship 2009 by Australian Government. This a prestigious scholarship awarded after a very strict screening and one with phenomenal credentials.
Dr Zahid Masood Khan( Associate Professor) is old returned awarded of this scholarship has been selected by Australian High Commission(AHC) as a facilitator of Pre Departure Briefing (PDB) held every year. This time PDB was organized by AHC in SERENA ISLAMABAD on 4.12.2008.
Mr Khizer is emed alumni member and was the student member of emed in 2004 during his MBBS program at Punjab Medical College Faisalabad Pakistan. Mr Khizer will be leaving to Australia by 9th of Jan 2009. He has been enrolled in University of Sydney, Sydney. He will be doing his Masters in Project Management.
Australian High Commissioner in Pakistan appreciated the efforts put in by Mr Masood by acting as a mentor for his students and said that selection of his old student was one reflection of good coaching and training.
It is also heartening that another old student of emed and office bearer of emed Dr Hafiz Bilal (Secretary) has passed Australian Medical Association (AMA) Examination and now serving as SHO in one of the hospitals in beautiful city of Perth, Australia.
emed wishes him best of luck and his success in the course enrolled. Mr Khizer will be the representative and focal person of emed in Australia.

I graduated from Punjab Medical College in January 2005, there I was the then Chief Editor of the college Magazine, Parwaz, I joined Federal Government Services Hospital Islamabad in April 2005 where I handled, Earthquake 2005 patients. We were the first team to start the response activity.
From April 06 to Jan 07, I worked with shifa college of medicine as an Instructor. Later I joined World Health Organization in Feb.07, as a Surveillance officer in Communicable Disease Surveillance Group of Emergency Humanitarian Action of WHO Pakistan. During my this assignment I have the honor to implement Disease Early Warning System in Districts, Mansehra, Abboattabad, Battagram, Peshawar, Shangla, Kohistan, Karachi, Hyderabad, Dadu, Kesh and Gawadar.
I had the opportunity to work for the relief and Rehabilitation of earthquake 2005 victims, Floods, 2007 victims in Baluchistan, Floods 2008 Victims in Peshawar. For my services I had been awarded certificate of excellence by district government of NWFP in 2007. During my tenure with WHO I have worked on the Human Cases of Avain Influenza commonly known as Bird Flu and have investigated the very first and few cases which surfaced
in Pakistan.
I have been trained formally and practically by WHO on Disaster Risk Management, Community Mobilization and have also received training on Surveillance from University of North Carolina. Currently I am working as Head of Office for Hazara Division (Abbotabad, Mansehra, Battagram,
Shangla and Kohistan) for WHO Sub office.
Just recently I have been awarded Australian Development Scholarship by AusAid, Government of Australia for my Masters in International Public Health from University of Sydney, Australia.
I am thankful to my God, teachers and parents for their prayers which have enlightened my path towards success in serving the common people of this part of the world.
