Faisalabad, the industrial nucleus of Pakistan had never witnessed such traffic jams & road blocks on the gathering of doctors, students & general public. Scientific experts responded to the call against diabetes (Combat & Prevent Diabetes) by Pakistan Diabetic & Endocrine Society (Faisalabad Chapter), Sahara for Life Trust & emed from Peshawar to Karachi & hundreds of doctors from Punjab Medical College, Allied Hospital, DHQ Hospital, Wapda Hospital, Society of Family Physicians of Faisalabad, Private Hospitals & students from all over the city including Punjab Medical College, Faisalabad University, GC University, Punjab College of Information Technology & various other colleges were there to welcome these honorable doctors & other respectable guests including Minister for Irrigation from Govt of Punjab, Mr Amer Sultan Cheema, Principal Punjab Medical College, Prof A.G.Rehan and numerous other imminent figures on August 26th 2006 in Serena Hospital Faisalabad.
The evening session on Public Awareness successfully attracted hundreds of participants who remained glued to their seats in the presence of big panel of specialist Physicians, Chairman Sahara for Life Trust & famous singer Mr Abrar ul Haq & M.D Sahara, Maj ® Israr ul Haq.
The unprecedented response, motivation & interest were the hallmark of the 1st Annual Conference on Diabetes by these 3 associations and will be long remembered by the people of Faisalabad who termed it ‘most successful’ in terms of response, technical aspects, discipline, organization & content of the programme.
First event of the conference held one day earlier on August 25th when Jinnah Postgraduate Medical College (JPMC) Karachi & DHQ Hospital Rawalpindi arranged a Pre-Conference workshop on Diabetes for General Practitioners of Faisalabad in Dynasty Hotel Faisalabad. Imminent Professor of Medicine and Incharge Medical Unit-IV of DHQ Hospital. Prof Iram Shakir Kiyani, was Chief facilitator while Dr Tahir Ansari & Dr Tariq Aziz from JPMC Karachi represented Prof Jamal Ara. The coordinated team very effectively left message to general practitioners on diabetes, its management & prevention. Certificates were awarded to the participants afterwards by Prof Dr Irshad ul Haq.
