Diabetes Awareness Week (November 6th to 14th 2006)
Health Camp at D-Ground Faisalabad, Pakistan
on November 8th 2006

In series of Diabetes Awareness Week, a Health Camp was held at D-Ground with the full co-operation & participation of the public representatives of the area.

Chief Guest on the occasion was Nazim Madina Town, Chaudhry Ali Akhtar & he was accompanied by area Nazim, Mr Mohammad Latif & area councilor, Mr Fiaz Ahmad. Town Nazim appreciated the efforts of emed & said that he would definitely desire to have such camps in future too. The Guest of Honour was Patron All Pakistan Diabetic & Endocrine Society & Principal Faisalabad University, Prof Irshad ul Haq.

Camp comprised of,

• Distribution of 12 pamphlets for teaching & informing people about healthy life style, balanced diet, all information about exercise, diet plans in diabetes, routine tests in diabetes, Heart disease, complications of diabetes as kidney, eyes, foot care, parathyroidism, obesity etc.

• Free cholesterol & sugar screening camps.

• Free advice by consultants as DR Ahmad Bilal, Dr Zahid Masood Khan, Dr Faraz Saeed Qureshi, Dr Ghazanfar Sindhu & Dr Ghazala Khalid

The thickly participated jogging track of D-ground had the 1st chance to have such awareness at their door step & they whole heartedly got all the information along with screening tests of sugar & cholesterol.

emed public members Mr Tariq Mushtaq, Mr Waseem Siddique & Mr Sarfraz Ali stayed at the camp with their team mates comprising of doctors and emed students of 2nd year from PMC & 3rd year of Faisalabad University.

Camp started at 3:00 p.m & continued till 10:00 p.m. & doctors including Dr Ahmad Bilal, Dr Khurram Raja, Dr Zahid Masood Khan, Dr Faraz Saeed Qureshi & young doctors from Medical Unit-III of Allied Hospital stayed in the camp.
