"emed Doctors & Undergraduates train teaching staff with practical demonstrations"

Workshop on 2nd & Final part of School Health System in Beaconhouse School (Primary Branch) was arranged by emed on April 29th 2005. School staff, electronic & print media was highly sensitized after the success of 1st Workshop & eagerly waited its final part which comprised of practical demonstrations on First Aid demonstrated by emed medical undergraduates of Punjab Medical College Faisalabad under supervision of their teachers.

Workshop started at 9:30 a.m. with a recap of first workshop by Dr Khurram Raja. Vice President emed Dr Zahid Masood Khan introduced main speakers of the day which were Assistant Professor & Incharge Surgical Unit DHQ Hospital Faisalabad Dr Sajid Sheikh & Assistant Professor Department of Pediatrics Allied Hospital Dr Hina Ayesha. It was followed by presentation & demonstration of Dr Hina Ayesha who, with the help of emed students & kids from Beaconhouse, demonstrated on first aid given to the cases of Choking & Cardiopulmonary arrest. Teachers of the school showed great interest in learning Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) & management of case of Choking

Media people present on the occasion covered the proceedings of this historic occasion when efforts were on the way to introduce a proper School Health System in schools of Pakistan.

Dr Sajid Sheikh was the next expert who presented, demonstrated & trained teaching staff on First Aid given for fractures, open wounds on body, head injury & neck & spinal injury. Demonstrations were done with the help of students & teaching staff.

In the end, General Secretary emed Dr Khurram stresses upon the implementation of proper School Health System in Beaconhouse & took comments of the audience on the formation of joint committees of parents, teachers, students for the implementation of the system, chalking out a plan for Physical Activity of the students & for the collaboration with emed. Dr Zahid, Dr Sajid & Dr Hina distributed certificates among the participants of the workshop which concluded at 1:00 p.m.
