A team of emed student members conducted a survey in Beacon house school on Tuesday, 18.10.2005. The topic of survey was 'Awareness in children about chemical safety'. The questionnaire was specially designed by Dr Hina Ayesha & Zainab Rafique for the children of levels 4, 5, 6 & 7. emed team was comprised of Zara Anwar, Iram Aftab, Maria Jamil & Mariam Latif who were warmly welcomed by school, class coordinators & students. They met Headmistress too & presented the questionnaire & the reading material about chemical safety in children.

Media people present on the occasion covered the proceedings of this historic occasion when efforts were on the way to introduce a proper School Health System in schools of Pakistan.
After sensitization of school staff with two workshops, emed designed final recommendations & discussed them with school headmistress Mrs Dure Shehwar Saleem whose vision finally enabled emed to implement those recommendations from September 2005. Staff member Miss Zainab Rafique is nominated as school coordinator & she is working hard under supervision of Mrs Dure Shehwar.
Nutrition Committee: School coordinator alongwith her team comprising of Mrs Qamar & Mr Humayun have designed a performa to check the type of edibles children are bringing in their lunch boxes. Interestingly it was found that only 3% of the children are bringing fruits for their lunch. School coordinator has provided a list of edibles available in the canteen of the school which is approved by Child Specialist Dr Hina Ayesha.
Physical Activity Plan: School coordinator had a meeting with Mr Imran Pasha on the physical activity plan of children in school. It was found that it needs improvement. The request has been forwarded to Dr Zahid Masood, Head of Community Medicine who has started working upon the improvement in the plan.

Other Components of Health System
- In November-December, emed will held 3rd workshop to train teachers in 1st aid procedures in the school. It will be the 'Training of the Trainers'. Then teachers will be training children on these procedures.
- Annual medical check up of children by Child Specialist, Psychiatrist & Nutritionist
- Regular awareness lectures on health issues to Children, Teachers & Parents
- Psychological Councilling of Children, Teachers & Parents
