“Every ten seconds someone dies from diabetes related causes and over 246 million people now have diabetes worldwide, a figure that is set to escalate to 380 million in the next generation if action is not taken now. Over 3.5 million people die of diabetes-related causes every year. The disease is a leading cause of blindness, kidney failure, heart attack, stroke and amputation.”

Health camp was arranged in green belt of Gulfishan colony where people of 8 adjacent colonies could attend the camp. Local public representatives desired to have the camp at the location & they helped in arrangement & spreading the information about the camp.

It was heavily attended & from 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. 3,465 people were received & screened for free tests of  sugar, cholesterol, test on bone mineral density & condition of blood vessels of legs (Doppler test) out of which 32% got first information about their high blood glucose & sugar levels. The tireless team of doctors from emed & All Pakistan Diabetes & Endocrine Society including Prof Ahmad Bilal, Dr Khurram Raja, Dr Sohail, Dr Husnain, Dr Usman & Dr Ijaz did free councilling to the interested people coming to the camp.
