"True to the words, emed & All Pakistan Diabetes & Endocrine Society organized 9 health camps in 9 days, starting from 3:00 p.m. to after mid night, screening 22,405 public members & patients."

 

All Pa β€œIt is stressed that change in life style with emphasis on physical activity and healthy eating habits coupled with a certain degree of supervised drug therapy could protect diabetics from a wide range of complications ranging from blindness to amputation to end stage renal diseases, besides cardiovascular complications.”

 

Health camp started at 3:00 p.m. with the co-operation of the daily newspaper β€˜Pakistan’ who provided space in JC Model School & spread the news of the health camp before hand. The area comprised of poor population living in 250 small flats & surrounded by Madina Town & Jaranwala road of Faisalabad.

 

In total, 2,388 people were screened for sugar, cholesterol, test on bone mineral density & condition of blood vessels of legs (Doppler test). 39% of the screened people did not know that their blood levels of sugar or cholesterol was high. Team of doctors of emed & kistan Diabetes & Endocrine Society for the camp comprised of Prof Ahmad Bilal, Dr Khurram Raja, Dr Tauseef, Dr Jahanzeb, Dr Husnain, Dr Sohail Anjum & Dr Tayyaba who remained busy in dispensing free advices on diabetes, its precaution, balanced diet & healthy life style. Camp ended at 11:30 p.m.
