“According to a survey, 70 per cent of the diabetic patients were assessed and attended by their doctors for more than 10 minutes; 84.7 per cent mentioned that their respective doctors do not talk to them for more than five minutes; 94.4 per cent were never given any calorie chart; 55.3 per cent were never advised for eye examination; 61 per cent never informed about special foot care and 76.5 per cent patients had never checked their sole.”
Health camp was arranged in the heart of Faisalabad city & the eyes of clock tower saw for the 2nd consecutive area that a team of emed & All Pakistan Diabetes & Endocrine Society doctors sat for hours in the shades of clock tower screening poor people, labour & workers of the inner bazaars of the city. From 3:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. 3,214 people were screened for sugar, cholesterol, test on bone mineral density & condition of blood vessels of legs (Doppler test). Doctors team of emed & All Pakistan Diabetes & Endocrine Society comprising of Prof Ahmad Bilal, Dr Khurram Raja, Dr Iftikhar Ahmad (Chief Medical Officer of Town Muncipal Authority), Dr Tauseef, Dr Jahanzeb & Dr Usman remained busy in giving free advice & free councilling. 25% of the people received 1st information about their high levels of screened tests. Incharge of clock tower welfare committee Hafiz Tahir Jamil & representatives of merchants associations of the area remained present in the camp.
