"True to the words, emed & All Pakistan Diabetes & Endocrine Society organized 9 health camps in 9 days, starting from 3:00 p.m. to after mid night, screening 22,405 public members & patients."
“The major complications of diabetes include dangerously elevated blood sugar, abnormally low blood sugar due to diabetes medications, and disease of the blood vessels which can damage the eye, kidneys, nerves, and heart.”
Health camp was arranged with the cooperation of staff members of municipal corporation & local public representatives who not only helped in arrangements but made the announcements in the area through mosques & banners. Camp started at 3:00 p.m. & lasted till 12:30 in the night. 2,569 males & females attended the camp & took advantage of free screening tests of sugar, cholesterol, test on bone mineral density & condition of blood vessels of legs (Doppler test). Out of these 34% people got 1st information about the disease knocking at the door step of their lives. emed & All Pakistan Diabetes & Endocrine Society doctors remained busy in advising the people & giving free councilling on the precautions of the disease & advice on healthy life style. It includes Prof Ahmad Bilal, Dr Khurram Raja, Dr Zahid Maood Khan, Dr Ahmad Zeeshan, Dr Tauseef, Dr Usman, Dr Asma & Dr Uzma. emed members Mr Tariq Mushtaq, Mr Waseem Siddique & Miss Zainab Rafique also attended the camp.
