“The two main types of diabetes correspond to these two mechanisms and are called insulin dependent (type 1) and non-insulin dependent (type 2) diabetes. In type 1 diabetes there is no insulin or not enough of it. In type 2 diabetes, there is generally enough insulin but the cells upon it should act are not normally sensitive to its action”

Health camp, the second one of the series, started at 3:15 p.m & continued till after midnight without any break. Public from all walks of life around the area were seen & public servants as police officials, staff working in 15 were also the participants who underwent screening tests of sugar, cholesterol, test on bone mineral density & condition of blood vessels of legs (Doppler test) & also took free medical advise & councilling on nutrition & healthy life from doctors of emed & All Pakistan Diabetes & Endocrine Society including Prof Ahmad Bilal, Dr Khurram Raja, Dr Zahid Maood Khan, Dr Ahmad Zeeshan, Dr Yasir Yaqoob, Dr Sohail Anjum, Dr Tauseef, Dr Usman, Dr Tayyaba & Dr Uzma. emed member Mr Waseem Siddique & Public representatives of the area also attended the camp. Total number of patients screened in the camp was 2,290 & 31% of those were diagnosed having high levels of sugar & cholesterol.
