2nd Annual Conference on Diabetes & Endocrinology

About the Conference

It was 31st October 2007 when Prof Ahmad Bilal, Dr Khurram Sohail Raja, Dr Faraz Saeed Qureshi & Dr Ghazanfar Sindhu were addressing the press conference of all the journalists from print & electronic media …

  • We will hold 9 health camps in the next 9 days.
  • We will target heavily populated, poor community areas.
  • We will do screening of the public, offering tests worth more than Rs, 10,000/- to every person, totally free of cost.
  • Our consultant doctors will do councilling for a healthy life, nutrition & various diseases.

“And on the other end, journalists were thinking that these consultant doctors won’t be able to stand to their words. They will run away in couple of days …. Because its easy to say & everyone talks in our country & doctors of their level won’t be able to communicate with the people”

The above is the true feeling of a journalist who conveyed it later to emed people & added that I am shocked to see the tremendous approach & dedication of emed & All Pakistan Diabetes & Endocrine Society people.

True to the words, emed & All Pakistan Diabetes & Endocrine Society organized 9 health camps in 9 days, starting from 3:00 p.m. to after mid night, screening 22,405 public members & patients,

  • November 1st at Bagh e Jinnah
  • November 2nd at D-Ground Park
  • November 3rd at Pahari Ground Park
  • November 4th at Sabina Garden Park
  • November 5th at Mohammad Ali Park, D-Type Colony
  • November 6th at Clock Tower
  • November 7th at Kohi Noor Flats
  • November 8th at Gulfishan Colony
  • November 9th at Dakkan Park, Samanabad

And after 3 workshops in 3 days for Doctors, Paramedics & Nurses, the activity plan concluded on November 13th when a Sugar Mela was held at Punjab Medical College Auditorium. It was as whole Faisalabad was directed towards the medical college by calls made through the banners in all the city, through the announcements on the radio, through health camping & through the advertisements given in the newspapers. Never before in Faisalabad, an awareness message was spread so effectively & on a larger scale.

Moreover, there was a ‘poster’ & ‘poem’ competition on diabetes & healthy life which was open for all. Cash prizes were awarded on best poster & best poem. 20 edicational institutions of the city participated in the competition.

Media played its role very effectively & stood with emed & All Pakistan Diabetes & Endocrine Society in their good efforts.

And for the future now, a strong working bond is established between emed, media, educational institutions & other institutions related to health as paramedics & nursing school.

A tremendous effort by doctors as Prof Dr Ahmad Bilal, Dr Khurram Sohail Raja, Dr Faraz Saeed Qureshi, Dr Zahid Masood Khan, Dr Ghazanfar Sindhu, Dr Humaira Arshad & their team of Dr Ahmad Zeeshan, Dr Yasir Yaqoob, Dr Tauseef, Dr Sohail Anjum, Dr Usman, Dr Irfan, Dr Uzma, Dr Asma, Dr Tayyaba & public emed members as Mr Tariq Mushtaq, Mr Waseem Siddique, Miss Zainab Rafiq & also not forgetting the very energetic emed students teams who collectively  have changed the traditions of offering health awareness & services. Now its upto the others to follow & excel in the drives in the best public interest.
