Medical Teachers Association (MTA) is a legal & representative body of Medical Teachers in Pakistan & in the recent past it has played pivotal role in protecting their rights & in elevating the standards of Medical Education in medical colleges of Pakistan.
Principal Punjab Medical College/Allied Hospital/DHQ Hospital, Prof Riaz Hussain Dub is a man of vision & beside other key decisions, he has inducted new spirit in the MTA body by holding fresh elections of the Executive Council of MTA,
On Monday, 11.1.2010, under the Patron ship of the Principal, Chief Election Commissioner & Head of Biochemistry Department Punjab Medical College, Prof Mohammad Ashraf held the elections in free & fair manner in the Auditorium of the college.
Large number of medical teachers from the institution attended the election meeting. Prof Mohammad Ashraf announced the winners which were elected un-opposed for the year 2010-2012. The panel of the Executive Council for the said tenure will be:

The outgoing President MTA & Head of Pathology Department Proj Janbaz Ahmad & outgoing General Secretary, Associate Professor Pathology, Dr Rana Qaiser Mehmood highlighted the achievements of their tenure & extended full support to the new Executive Council. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Zahid Iqbal (Head of Urology Department), Prof Mohammad Ali Tirmazi (Head of ENT 2 Department), Associate Professor Dr Khalid Mehmood (Anatomy), Associate Professor Dr Akmal Sharif (Medicine), Dr Mussarat ul Hasnain (Director Medical Education) & Dr Riaz ul Hassan (Pharmacology) extended reposed their confidence in the new council members & presented their sincere suggestions in account of working.
The newly elected President Prof Rasool Mohammad Chaudhry & General Secretary Dr Khurram Raja thanked the teachers for their confidence in the new office bearers & laid down an initial working plan of MTA. They were committed in working with all the members of MTA.
The Patron MTA in Punjab Medical College & the Principal, Prof Riaz Hussain Dub took oath from the new office bearers. Speaking on the occasion, he thanked the audience for participating in the elections & extended his kind support with all the resources of the institution to the new body. He stressed upon the need of strengthening the body of MTA in medical institutions of the city & then to have further collaboration with MTA at the Punjab level. Lunch was served on the occasion on behalf of outgoing President, Prof Janbaz Ahmad.
